Identify the format
The classic reference uses four players in two partnerships and a 108-card pack: two standard decks with four jokers. Partners sit opposite.
Set up a learning space
Leave visible space for each partnership’s melds, the face-down stock and a single discard pile. During practice, put a small label beside each area. A tidy layout helps a learner explain which pile they mean without pointing across someone’s cards.
Agree before dealing
Read the complete source together. Write down its title, your selected format and any deliberate changes. A setup note is a reminder of that agreement, not an alternative set of rules. If a player learned from a different app, compare the named mode before starting.
